Skills Assessment

Skills Assessment is a mandatory requirement for anyone seeking to migrate to Australia on a Work Visa (Subclass 482), Temporary/Permanent Skilled Visa (Subclass 491/190/189) or an Employer Sponsored Visa (Subclass 186/494). It is a very vital component of the Australian Immigration process. The aim is to ensure that successful applicants can contribute immediately to Australia’s skilled workforce when they arrive in Australia.

A skills assessment determines if you have the skills and experience necessary to work in Australia at the trade level for your occupation. The process is a combination of assessing the qualifications and employment against the suitability of a particular occupation.

Qualification assessment involves assessing the level of education of a particular qualification as per the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and determining the relevance of that qualification to the chosen occupation.

Employment assessment involves determining whether the employment (in Australia or overseas) is at an appropriate skill level and relevant to the chosen occupation. A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive successful Skills Assessment Outcome.
